ABOUT
Tension – be it the physical tension acting on a stringed instrument, the stress of being pushed for time, the strain of finding a work–life balance, the nerves preceding a journey of great importance, tautness following strenuous physical activity, or the stress of overstepping one’s comfort zone – is potentially a factor in the creation of a musical work, with the last case being perhaps the most crucial. After all, within any field of possibilities, those options that present the greatest challenges may seem to be the most interesting. One needs to overcome the limits of one’s own body to come within reach of them. Every clutch at thin air might uncover an unexpected path that lends the creative work a distinctive flavour. Thus does the creative process become a work of art in itself.
