ABOUT

A round-robin is a typical competitive structure in sporting tournaments, and involves each competitor facing off against all the others an equal number of times. The form of this new work is made up of seven different musical constructs, each derived from the sound of the accordion. These constructs are brought together in diverse contexts through the interplay of the accordion and the electronic elements.

ROUND-ROBIN was one among first compositions to be realised in the summer of 2014 at the Berlin Academy of the Arts’ Electronic Music Studio in collaboration with its new director, Gregorio Karman. The work’s première was programmed alongside music by the composer Georg Katzer, the founder of the above-mentioned studio nearly thirty years ago in the former German Democratic Republic.
